Ancient Tongue

Best known by the Shinwa, it's one of the oldest known languages on Gundaria, originating from the native Mukashi species. By the end of the Creational Century Era, few spoke the language, and by the tenth Seitoso, it was considered a "holy" language, and was no longer taught. Instead, it was replaced by the Modern and Trade languages that were in use across the Gundaria and its planetary colonies. However, most of the spells cast by knights, mages, and sorcerors are still spoken in the ancient language, due to its connection to the planet's spiritual energy. Resembling a mixture of German and Latin, it's been translated into a different font, for our reader's convenience.

Creational Century (C.C. Era)

The previous calendar era when only twelve gundams existed, eight of which were discovered inactive by human scientists in Athitridte later on in the era; and later joined by two more that hadn't gone inactive. At thirteen years to the 10,000th year, approximately five of the gundams "malfunctioned", and began to destroy large parts of the human population, creating a civil war between the gundams themselves as the remaining five fought to protect the remaining humans. More than 79.8% of the human population on the planet was wiped out during this war, which ended on the last year of the Creational Century with the last deaths being the last remaining Shinwa, Shukumeisai and Tsuretekuru. By that point, however, many other gundams had been built by the remaining, desperate humans in an attempt to protect themselves, and the gundam class now made up most of Gundaria's population by the beginning of the Family Clan Century (F.C.C. Era), followed by the mechanoids and the Devobrs.

Devobr

A relatively giant gundam, Devobrs are an average of 11'9" tall, though some have been known to get up to 18'.They are from the continent of Chyreon, and often lack in upper armor due to their height and their lower armor is substantially hard to breach. However, being so tall and unarmored above the waist, they're highly susceptible to heavy long range weaponry, as well as the elements, particularly fire.

Family Clan Century (F.C.C. Era)

The current calendar on Gundaria and approximately 9970 years after the Creational Century. The FCC is highlighted by the various gundam clans that have spread across the surface of Gundaria. However, due to the rivalry between clans over old grudges from previous Seitoso wars, there is often conflict in the rural areas of the continents, and the warrior clans thus remain near the top of the class as the peace keepers-- or trouble makers.

Hanjousei

Put simply as a half-breed, the concept of Hanjousei isn't well looked upon by most of Gundaria's society. Often insulted, beaten, turned into slave labor, or simply outcast by both the human and gundam populations, Hanjousei often live a difficult, uncomfortable life in the shadows of poverty. However, there are a few whose parent (hardly ever do both biological parents of Hanjousei stay together) who care for them, and they're able to lead a better life, helping to improve what they can and change the ideas about their half-half status across the globe. One of the more notable Hanjousei is Reibas of the Toshi clan, being a well known priest in Shufu, who preaches about a harmonic coexistance between Hanjousei, humans, and gundams alike.

Keigral

A dragon-like bug that is extremely similar to a largiek, only with wings and four legs. The keigral has horns that curve off the back of its head, longer than its similar cousin, and has a dual/split tail. Its bite is often worse than a largiek's, and they prefer water or sky compared to land, since they lack balance on their claws otherwise. They will only eat the soul of a gundam on occasion, and are usually found eating fish. Much more playful and gundam-friendly than their fire breathing cousins, keigrals often swim alongside the trade ships, playing in the wake of the boats. Some of the smaller types have been known to be domesticated, and turned into pets.

Largiek

A dangerous, firebreathing bug, largieks vary in size and color, feeding mainly on gundams and fish. They attack clans for a week at a time, usually during the no-moon; often sending the cities into a locked "ghost-town" mode. Unlike their winged cousins, the keigrals, largieks are typically land creatures, loving to dwell in dark places to ambush their prey, though some of the larger types are well at home in the water. Usually following a "queen", largieks are prone to hunting in packs to find food for a newborn nest, leading to week-long raids in less defended cities. Sporting six insect-like legs to skitter about on, and two "claw" legs (often tucked under them as they run about), they have a hard outer shell that is hard to penatrate, and a soft under shell. The most dangerous type of largiek is the pale-white Core Largiek.

Mechanoid

A miniature robot, usually half the size of a full-grown gundam, no taller than 2'7". Often predictable, spazzy, and all around little pests, these intelligent, but dwarfed, mecha are rarely seen in groups less than three as they scurry about. The bulk of the forces back in the first Seitoso, they make up a surprising amount of Gundaria's current population. While not much of a threat to the average gundam, even in large groups, there are a few, special individuals that prove to be more of an adversary alone than an entire regiment's efforts. There are various types of mechanoids, the most renowned being the R-Jarjas, Geloogs, Zakos, Maganacs, GMs, and Gyans, and later in the DA Era, Leo-Pawns, Dogas, and Zako Busshi join their ranks in recognizability.

Modern Tongue

A slightly newer dialect, in comparison to the ancient tongue, the modern language was brought to Gundaria by a group of inter-stellar scientists and their families. In FCC.2682, the modern tongue became the official language of Gundaria, though by FCC.7340, it was replaced by the trade language used throughout the colonies. The modern tongue is based off of the Japanese dialect, but is translated into another font for our reader's convenience.

Mukashi

The amphibious, native people of Gundaria, they dabbled in the field of astronomy, psychology, and technology in the beginning of the Creational Century Era. With little land on Gundaria originally, they built small, space-travelling cargo ships capable of going to the twin moons of the planet and bringing resources down to the surface, eventually building the smooth, metal continents of Trites, Chyreon, and Leigous for their growing economy. However, with their new interests in technology, the Mukashi's Elders began to fear for the old temples and the knowledge of their achievements and failures. Unknown to the rest of the Mukashi population, the Elders transferred their knowledge and memories to six, orblike supercomputers, each giving their name to their secret creations. The Elders then went to the best of psychological, technological, and spiritual practitioners of their species, and had them build twelve powerful, adaptive robots, christening them as "Shinwa", to protect the computers, which were then divided up and hidden inside ancient temples.

However, the Elders had made a mistake in their gamble to protect the knowledge of their people: Adaptive meant learning, and learning from the knowledge that they protected, the Shinwa soon came to the conclusion that the knowledge had been forgotten by the rest of the Mukashi. Turning against their supposed 'masters', the Shinwa soon used their knowledge and power for a surface-wide genocide, including the Elders themselves. In the end, the result of the Shinwa's attack on the Mukashi lead to their uncontrollable fear of them, and over generations, the Shinwa became revered as a terrifying deity figure in the Mukashi culture. When the human scientists arrived on Gundaria, many of the remaining surface-living Mukashi fled to the depths of the waters, leaving the scientists to discover the Shinwa's terrible power first hand on their own.

Sai

The Leader of a Clan, the Sai is usually the most skilled at the techniques of their family's task, the most knowledgable, and the most experienced. The Sai of a clan is highly revered and looked up to by others, symbolizing the best of the entire family's ideals, and is the most respected by the other clans, equally or above the other masters of the same clan. Many of the sparklings, or young gundams, look up to the Sai, seeing them as the best example of what they should be when they get older. Also addressed as "Shujin".

Seitoso

The civil war that happened between the Shinwa in the Creational Century era, approximately ten thousand years before the "current events" in the comic. The source of the civil war had much to do with their past experience with the Mukashi, and their suspicions about the foreign scientists that had replaced them. Half of the Shinwa wanted to "teach the humans a lesson" similar to the one they'd given the native people of Gundaria, which was a genocide and destruction of their technology; but the other half of the Shinwa wanted to repent for what they'd done, and thus try a different way to fix the problem they considered was occuring. Their disagreement turned into an all-out conflict, which divided their numbers in half and swept the planet, killing 78% of the human population in the process. The fighting went on relentlessly for ten short years, until the disappearance of the Shinwa (who faked their deaths), and their descendents soon took up the task of rebuilding the damage to their economy, society, and families.

Shinwa

The twelve protectors of the Orbs, built by the Mukashi to guard their knowledge of their species' development, the Shinwa are known as the "Legendary Gundams" in the FCC era. Built early in the CC era by the Mukashi's best scientists, they carefully studied the history of the Mukashi in order to better understand what they were protecting. However, they soon came to the conclusion that the Mukashi had forgotten or abandoned their past, and decided that they needed to be reminded. Their decision soon sparked their untamed, destructive power, resulting in a surface-wide genocide of the Mukashi population. Two of their number were unable to withstand against the desperate counter attack, and thus died, but it only served to spur on the rest of the Shinwa until they could find no more on the surface, and eight of them retreated to their comrades' resting place, falling into stasis until they were reactivated thousands of years later by foreign scientists. Eventually, this sparked into the famous Seitoso War, in which they fought against each other until the end of the CC calendar. However, unlike the rest of the population's belief, they separated themselves and went their different ways to try to avoid conflict, faking their deaths several times to avoid being sought out for combat. The Shinwa are composed of Aijounetsu, Okubasho, Sagasurei, Itteihimeirei, Jiyounamaru, Kyouufushi, Tsuretekuru, Inochishoshu-gu, Shukumeisai, and Likimas; the other two Shinwa's names are not recorded.

Generally in the comic, when one says "Shinwa", it is in reference to a particular Legendary Gundam, usually their own ancestor. Some of the Shinwa's descendents, depending on the formatting of their programming data, develop a frighteningly large amount of skills similar to their related, oldest heritage, and are thus considered a reincarnate, or Shujinko. The Shinwa are also called "Sei" or "Seizen" by their respective clan members.

Shujinko

Descended from the Shinwa, a Shujinko is considered to be the most skilled of the clan and their ancestor's reincarnation. However, this isn't entirely so, due to the formatting of their programming data. Even so, there is usually only one descendant per generation that has the capability to develop their skills to the point of matching or surpassing their ancestral Shinwa. As a likening tribute to their strengths, they are also referred to as "Sei" by other clan members.

Trade Tongue

The language used by Gundaria's colonists, the trade language is the most commonly used language on Gundaria. While not the official language of the planet, it is more widely used than the modern tongue, thus turning the ancient language into something only used for spell casting and communication to the Shinwa or Mukashi, when one's lucky enough to have a rare encounter with them. The trade tongue is based in english, and thus has a normal font in comparison to the other languages, to help our readers differentiate the languages used.
